My Morning at Safehouse Coffee Roasters

I don't normally get to do things out and about where I live, mostly because I'm working (or lazy). However, as a substitute teacher, you don't always never have a concrete schedule. So, today I am working an afternoon half-day, so I am enjoying this nice 50-ish degree morning in one of the coolest and coziest coffee shops I've ever been to: Safehouse Coffee Roasters in Griffin, GA. Armed with my iPhone, I began snapping pics all over the place. Then the cozy atmosphere got me...as it should.

Toby and I have been here before and I totally fell in love with the place. It's the perfect spot to read or do some work or just have a conversation. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful, and they also just look like cool people. It's a restored building, full of the quirks that only come with age, but they have redone it marvelously and left little accents that remind you of the history that is within the walls. Speaking of history, as I write this I can hear Billie Holiday playing overhead. Earlier it was Django Reinhardt. These people are classy and they keep winning me over.

It's very simplistic and clean. Minimalist. Amazing. And every person that comes through the doors looks like someone interesting that you would love to talk to. I promise, I'm not just romanticizing it. It's just that cool of a place.

Not only does it feel fantastic, this place supports local farmers and is a non-profit organization that supports community more than commerce. Guys, if you live in this area, you should really check this place out because your money goes to a local business that supports goodness of lots of sorts.

I haven't even gotten to the best part yet: the coffee itself. Well, it tastes great. Very rich and of course is brewed right here, fresh, every Tuesday. Another good thing, is that if you don't feel like popping into the shop, you can order their coffee online as well. Believe it or not, I was not paid to do this post. I just really like this place and would love to see people give it a go! Thank you Safehouse for a fantastic morning, and for letting me sit at a table for 3+ hours until I go to work. I'll be seeing you again, soon!

  1. This looks like such a cool place. I love little independent coffee shops, there are quite a few round here.

  3. That delicious looking cappuccino is not helping with my current coffee/cap addiction! My neighborhood in Brooklyn is full of great coffee shops, but it's becoming an expensive habit!
